SYNOPSIS

Teresa Hamilton is having a rough year—she’s in love with her big brother’s best friend, but he hasn’t spoken to her since they shared a truly amazing, mind-blowing, change-your-life kiss. She got out of a terrible relationship. And now an injury is threatening to end her dance career for good. It’s time for Plan B – college. And maybe a chance to convince Jase that what they have together is real.

Jase Winstead has a huge secret that he’s not telling anyone. Especially not his best friend’s incredibly beautiful sister. Even though he and Teresa shared the hottest kiss of his life, he knows that his responsibilities must take priority. He certainly doesn’t have time for a relationship. But it doesn’t help that all he can think about kissing the one girl who could ruin everything for him.

As they’re thrown together more and more, Jase and Tess can’t keep denying their feelings for each other. But a familiar danger looms and tragedy strikes. As the campus recovers, the star-crossed couple must decide what they’re willing to risk to be together, and what they’re willing to lose if they’re not…

I am such a huge fan of J. Lynn’s Wait for You series. I fell in love with Wait for You and devoured Trust in Me, so when I received a copy of Be With Me in the mail I sat down immediately to start reading it. As expected, I couldn’t put it down! J. Lynn is incredibly talented and can pull you into any story with her to-die-for live stories. Jase and Teresa were so incredibly cute together, we get more Cam and Avery, and there are some explosive issues to keep the plot moving and get the reader interested in both the plot and the romance.

New adult is often criticized for always having damaged characters with serious issues. If issue books bother you, this is not a series you’re going to enjoy. Personally, I think that certain issues deserve to be understood, so I really enjoyed reading about Teresa’s previous abusive relationship, as well as seeing her roommate go through something similar. For what it’s worth, Teresa has moved on from her abusive relationship well before the book takes place, and it’s very clear that the experience does not define her.

Even though I knew we would be seeing more of Cam and Avery and I freaking love them, I have to admit that I was a bit apprehensive of seeing them in Be With Me. Typically when characters cross over like that, I just don’t really enjoy it and it comes off as characters just being thrown in because they’re fan favorites so they need a cameo. Not so with Be With Me. Cam and Avery are wonderful supporting characters, they still make me swoon, and I loved that I got to see them again without it feeling like they were shoved into the story to make me read it.

Now, even though I was excited that Cam and Avery were just as awesome as ever in Be With Me, the real stars are obviously Jase and Teresa 🙂 . They were adorable! From the very beginning, even though Jase is suffering from Edward Cullen syndrome, it is so obvious that these two are meant to be. They’re banter is awesome, the chemistry is undeniable, and they have the kind of story that readers just want to see succeed. I wish I could say that Jase’s behavior was excusable, but he was kind of just an ass-hat about the whole thing. He’s no Cam (and let’s face it, will there ever be another Cam?), but he is perfect for Teresa.

J. Lynn has an almost magical quality to her writing that makes you enjoy everything she writes. Be With Me was simply fabulous, and while Jase isn’t as drool worthy as Cam, he and Teresa are a great couple. Teresa is a very strong character and it was great to see that in the story. She doesn’t let any of her past problems define her. She dusts herself off and moves on with her life. Watching her relationship with Jase develop was a joy. And I know I’ve said this before, but if you haven’t read this series yet, you need too!

Great review! I’m so glad you loved the book. Thank you for being on the tour.

  2. I’m a huge JLA fan myself. There is something about her books that pull you in immediately, and they don’t let you go until you’ve read the last work.

I’m so excited to read Be with Me. I think JLA sort of rocks the bad boy love interest, but Cam was the exception. He was just such a nice guy. I’m excited to read about Jase, and learn what his secrets are.
